Education

GMA Kapuso Foundation's Education Programs are wellspring of Empowerment. GMAKF believes that “Education is the best weapon against poverty.” Through these projects, we help less fortunate children and students pursue their education.

Programs

» Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan (UHSK)

Moved by a study that shows the lack of school materials as a major reason for the prevalence of public elementary school drop-outs, we initiated the Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan Project (UHSK). Backpacks with basic school materials are given to incoming grade 1 public elementary school children from the poorest municipalities in the country. These children can now go to school with dignity, while their parents are more motivated to enroll them.

» Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan Part II

The Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan project helps to encourage its chosen beneficiaries to, first, go to school, “ start getting an education; and second, to inspire these same students to remain in school, precisely because they are adequately equipped with the notebooks, writing pads, pencils, crayons, eraser, sharpener, and even a school bag that they will need.

However, the school supplies this project gives to its beneficiaries at the beginning of the school year, in June, eventually need to be replenished, especially towards the second half of the school year.  As such, there is a need, to conduct a second round of school materials distribution, “ for a UHSK Part II.

In its efforts to ensure the delivery of Serbisyong Totoo (True Service) thru the Unang Hakbang Sa Kinabukasan, the GMA Kapuso Foundation engages individuals and organizations and elicits their support.

» Kapuso Scholarship Initiative (KASI Project)

The Foundation, in partnership with the Asian Academy of Business and Computers, chooses talented individuals interested to become scholars in a four-month TESDA- accredited certification course in 3D Animation and Videographics.

After finishing their course, the Kapuso Scholars are then referred to partner establishments and companies for Job opoortunities. This is the Kapuso Scholarship Initiative, or KASI Project.
